Incompetech

I love this one! Music has always be used as a way to evoke emotion in people. Wagner was used during Hitler's reign as a form of propaganda. Certain musicals like 'Les Miserables', 'Wicked' or 'Rent' were such powerful pieces of theatre because of the fantastic music that was involved. If I could take that principle into the classroom, and use powerful music (even just as underscoring to a topic) and evoke just some emotion in my students it would make it a more meaningful lesson.

I found a little piece on Incompetech that started slow and had a steady beat, it moved into an eerie still phrase which built to a crescendo that was beautifully flowing. One idea I had was that I could use this piece as a starting point and ask children what insect they could see accompanying this music. I would get the students think of the mannerism that a particular insect might have and create their own movement piece to this music. This would incorporate a few learning areas such as science with the insect topic, music and dance.
